Murders in the shadow:
the revenge of Zero

This is the unlucky story of three students in New York. They discovered a long series of murders caused by a mysterious man called Zero...

This story is dedicated at the memory of Paul Walker, a famous actor died in an horrible incident .

Chapter one
The newcomer

It was the 18th of February, a cold day in the city of New York. The atmosphere was frantic and chaotic. At “J. F. Kennedy” High School all the students of the 5th forms were talking about a new student's arrival.
Someone said he came  from Europe, others thought he was from California and added he came from a nasty school. The only sure rumour was he would attend form 5C. To tell the truth only few people did not believe in the rumours, including Kate Buchan and Tom Folger from 5C.

It was the first period of lesson. Mrs Jones arrived into the classroom.
- Good morning – She said and introducing a new face she added - He will be your new classmate-  .
- Hello everybody! My name's Sam Evans. I come from UK.-  he said.
- OK, Sam, go to your seat, please. There's a one near Tom. Go there.-
 Five long periods of lessons followed. There was History, Physics and Maths.

When the lesson finished the three students, Kate, Sam and Tom decided to know better ourselfs, so they decided to go to McKingsley 's  for a drink.
- Where are you from?-  Kate asked.
- I'm from Doncaster. It's a little town in England.-  he answered.
- Why did you came here?-  Tom asked.
- Well... Ehm … My father came here for work and I followed him. I'm going to stay here for one year at least-
They continued to talk for about an hour then...
- Hey guys, Bill is going to make a party on Saturday. We can go there. Do you like my idea?- Tom said
- Yes, I do. It's a good idea.-  Sam answered.
- Are you agree?-
- Yes,I am.-  Kate replied.

They went to Bill's party three days later . It was a warm day, but that evening was colder than last week evenings. The three friends wait in front of Bill's house for ten minutes, then they entered  in the house. They saw that Bill prepared lots of alcoholic drinks, he listened noisy music and lots of people was smoking and those people was already drunk from an half at least.
They didn't like that atmosphere, it looked like at an illegal pub, so they exit quickly to the house.
- It disgust. I won't to return there . Let's go to McKingsley 's.- Kate exclaimed.
- OK, it seems the only thing to do.- the others replied.
They left Bill's house early and goes to  McKingsley 's. They didn't know what does them expected.

These is the beginning of a long friendship and of a terrible story.
Chapter two:
The assault towards Lindsay Miller

One day, they were going to McKingsley 's when they  heard a shout coming to the park near 59th Street. They entered in the park, they searched to understand what was happening and from where came the shout.
- We must divide us.-  Tom said.
They chose three different path and searched who shouted. They heard one other shout from the centre of the park, and the Same happened about 5 minutes later. They run away the dark and endless path of the park for about 10 minutes.
- I've found her! I've found her!-  Sam shouted.
Tom and Kate arrived immediately. They found a blond girl, tall about 1.80 metres, maybe she was 30- 33 years old. Then she fainted. They searched to understand where the aggressor can flee. 
She was afraid,  her clothes were bloodstained and she was seriously wounded at arms and at one leg.
- How are you?-  Kate asked. She was to much afraid so she didn't answer.
- I call an ambulance.-  said Tom
- Hurry up! -  Sam exclaimed.
- What's your name? -  Kate asked, but the woman  didn't answer again.
- What's your name? -  Kate asked again, - Please, say me your name.-
- My name is... is... Lindsay,...Lindsay Miller.- the woman murmur with an afraid and faltering voice.
- Who assaulted you?-  Tom asked, - Can you describe us how he or she looks like? -
- I don't remember how does it looks like, - she said -  but I think he was a man. He was tall about 1.85 metres, he wore a brown jacket. I also  remember his hair was ...-
Then she fainted again. The paramedics arrived about three minutes later and took the unlucky woman to the hospital. When they was leaving the park to go to the hospital Sam saw a man, very similar to the Lindsay's aggressor description, who was walking in the path of the park.

It spent about an hour, and a doctor exited from the room finally.
- How does she feel? What could hurt her?-  Tom asked worried.
- She is in disastrous conditions.- The doctor replied -  She lost lot of blood, but she isn't in peril of her life. The object that hurt her was sure a very sharp knife.-
- How many wounded does she presents?
- She presents three seriously wounded at arms and legs, three little excoriations on her face and another on his groin.-
While he doctor was telling the conditions of the woman it arrived a policeman.
- Excuse me, -  he said , - are you the people who find Lindsay Miller?-
- Yes, we are- Sam answered.
- I'm the inspector Jack Lloyd of New York Police. You must follow me for an interrogatory.-
- OK. Guys, let's go to the police station.-
Chapter  three
The interrogatory

Mr Lloyd arrived in the station with the three friends. It was the 6 p.m. , about two hours later the assault towards miss Miller.
- When did you hear the first shout? In what conditions was  miss Miller when did you find her?-  Mr Lloyd asked.
- We heard the first shout at 3.51 p.m. , the second at 3.55 p.m and the third at 4.01 p.m. We found miss Miller at 4.03 p.m. She fainted, but after four or five minutes she retake consciousness. She presented three seriously wounded: the first was on the right thigh, the second was on the left arm and the third was on the right forearm. The doctor said she presents three another three little excoriations on her face and on his groin-  Sam answered.
- Well... did she describe you the aggressor?-
- Yes, she did. -  Kate affirmed, -  She said he was tall about 1.85 metres and he wore a brown jacket. She said only that before she fainted.- 
- Did you know miss Miller yet?-
- No, I didn't.-  Tom  denied -  It was the first time I saw her.-
- The same for us.- Sam and Kate said.
- Did you see a possible suspect to wander about the park?-
- Yes, I did.-  Sam said, -  I saw a suspect man while  we was leaving the park to go to the hospital. He was very similar at the description of miss Miller.-
- Did you note other particulars? - Mr Lloyd asked interested.
- Yes, I did. -  Sam said .
- What? Say me what did you see!!- Mr Lloyd shouted.
- Keep calm, please.-  Sam said. He was afraid by the strange behaviour of  inspector Lloyd.-  He wore a brown jacket, with patches on shoulders and elbows. He wore a beard and he was smoking.-
- Can you describe him? -  Mr Lloyd asked hopeful.
- I can't, I'm sorry. I didn't see well his face. I can't describe him.-  Sam said sorry.
- Oh...I see...-  Mr Lloyd said.
- One moment. I remember somebody else.-  Sam said.-  There was a very big scar from his left cheek to his forehead.-
- Thank you. It's a very important detail.-  Mr Lloyd said relieved.-  The last thing, can you describe me what did success precisely?-
- Yes,we can.-  Kate answer,-  We want walking when we heard ...
But suddenly...
- Excuse me,excuse me!-  A policeman said. He was purple to the run.
- What happens, Agent Fletcher? -  Mr Lloyd asked dried.
- Miss Miller retook consciousness ten minutes ago!- Mr Fletcher exclaimed.
- Miss Miller retook consciousness finally! -  Kate exclaimed.
- Hurry up! We must question the victim.-  Sam exclaimed.
- Keep calm!-  Mr Lloyd arranged. - Miss Miller must place herself. We must wait till tomorrow if we want she will answer.-
Chapter four
The identikit of aggressor

Mr Lloyd with the three friends went to the hospital the next day to question miss Lindsay Miller.
- Good morning, miss Miller!-   Mr Lloyd said.
- Good morning, agent Lloyd!-  Miss Miller said.
- What? Mr Lloyd knows miss Miller!? How is it possible? -  Kate asked amazed.
- She was my  colleague and partner 2 - 3 years ago, when we was working at the same police district.- Mr Lloyd answered quietly.
- Is it for this you were assigned at this case? -  Kate asked.
- Yes, it is, but this is a quite different matter. -  affirmed. -  Miss Miller, are you ready to answer at our questions?-
- Yes, I am. You can ask me everything do you want.-  She affirmed.
- Perfect. Before you was assaulted, what were you doing?-
- I was expecting my friend, we had to meet there and then go together to have dinner at “London” restaurant .-
- Do you know where is your friend now?
- No, I don't. I don't know where Fred is now.-
- Excuse me, do you say “Fred”?-
- Yes, I do. Fred K. Baker is a my friend. He is a doctor.-
- How do you meet him?-
- I met him casually one year ago. We began to see each other regularly about eleven- ten months ago. I didn't saw he recently because he was in mission in Brazil.-
-  From when to when was he is Brazil?-
-  He went in Brazil four months ago. I didn't have any notice from him for about … two or three months. He advised me he was going to Amazonian rainforest.-
-  Can you describe him to me?-
- He is tall about 1.85 metres, he has brown hair and green eyes. He was quite sturdy when he left for Brazil.-
- Did you have any quarrel with him?-
- Yes, I did. It was one week before he left. It wasn't anything of important. Do you think he can be the aggressor?-
- Yes, I do. He is the main suspect.-
- Excuse me, may I ask a question towards miss Miller? -  Sam interrupted.
- Yes, of course.-  This was the answer of miss Miller
- Miss Miller, when and where did you fainted the first time?-
- I fainted when the aggressor hit me with something at my head. I shouted and I fainted. I  was on the little patch of the park.-
- Are you sure?-
- Yes, I am.-

There were since here only two unanswered questions: who is the aggressor and how Miss Miller was far from the place of the first assault.
Chapter five
“Zero”

Two weeks later the assault, and all was returned to the normality. The police advanced with the track of F. K. Baker, but...
- Baker wasn't the aggressor.-  Tom affirmed. - It's quite impossible think that he went home after four months   and he assaulted his friend Lindsay.-
- Therefore,if Baker isn't the aggressor who is the aggressor ? -  Kate replied  angry.
- I don't know that ...-
- Shout up! -  Mrs Jones shouted.
- We're sorry , Mrs Jones...-  The two students murmured scared.
- Oh, beloved silence.-  Mrs Jones said , - Let's start the lesson of English: we're going to talk about a novel of  J. Verne, the “Mathias Sandorf”.-
The teacher explained something about J. Verne and then she said:
-The novel was inspired at the novel “The Count of Montecristo” of  A. Dumas, the same writer of  “The three musketeers”. In the book the count  M. Sandorf is an Magyar revolutionary, and he completed with other compatriots the Independence of the Hungary. Three people discovered his plan and they informed the police. Two of his companion died in an execution in the fort of Pisino in Istria and a fisher, Andrea Ferrato, who helped them died in the penitentiary of Stein. He fled in the sea and returned 15 years later with the name of Dr. Antekirtt. He found the three conspiring and execute them on his island in north Africa.-
- The book is more difficult than my introduction, but it's similar. -  She added.
Few seconds later somebody knocked at the door.
- May I enter? I'm agent J. Lloyd.-  The policeman said.
- Mr Lloyd is here!?-  Sam murmured.
- Yes...Why are you here, Mr Lloyd?-   Mrs Jones stammer.
- It's nothing of important. I need the students Kate Buchan, Tom Folger and Sam Evans.-

Mr Lloyd took with him the three guys and brought them to Brooklyn.
- Guys, we have a very big problem.-  He explained.
- What kind of problem?-  Sam asked.
- That problem-  Mr Lloyd said. -  See on your right.-
Nobody wanted to believe in what they were seeing: it was F. K. Baker and he was died.
-  We founded him yesterday evening and we need to know if  he is the people who Sam saw on the day of the assault.-
Sam saw attentively the corpse of F. K. Baker for two or three minutes and then...
- No, he isn't.-
- We have founded also this note.-

 It says:
“Don't worry. This is only the beginning. I'm not evil or mad, I want to cause only the same pain that they caused to me.
Zero”
Chapter six
The mystery is disclosed

The three friends was returning home after a boring day of school.
-We must take the stock of the situation: Miss Miller is still living for a miracle, Mr Baker is died and a killer is free in New York, and we don't know who'll be the next victim. -  Sam said.
-We also know he or she has named “The Count of Montecristo”.- Kate specified.
-Who was “The Count of Montecristo” ? - Sam asked.
-It was a novel. It was written by A. Dumas. Do you remember what Mrs Jones said yesterday about the book of J. Verne? Well  “The Count of  Montecristo” inspired J. Verne to wrote that book. - Tom explained.
-So... If the killer named “The Count of Montecristo” he will say his story is similar to the story written in the book?- Kate asked.
-Yes, it may be like you said. -
-So the killer search someone who ruined his life, and two of them are Miss Miller and Mr  Baker. - Sam deduced.
-Who will cause pain to those people?- Kate asked.
-Don't think so!- Tom interrupted – We mustn't think to who will be the killer, but we must identify the next victim, only in this way we can find the killer.-

They arrived at Tom's house and analysed the situation.
-We must investigate about miss Miller and about Mr Baker. We must find something that concern miss Miller and Mr Lloyd.-

In the same time, at the police station, Mr Lloyd  was investigating F. K. Baker and L. Miller.
- May I enter Mr Lloyd?-  Mr Fletcher asked - We founded something about L. Miller and F. Baker.-
-Yes, of course. Tell me all you have found.- Mr Lloyd ordered.
-The F. K. B isn't real name of the people we found: he is Lawrence P. Morgan. He was a prisoner in Pennsylvania. He was arrested 5 years ago by L. Miller for traffic in arms, traffics in drugs and money laundering. He wasn't the only. Jack Walker, William Mason and Frank Harvey were arrested with him. - Mr Fletcher said.
-So,... that explains the aggression to L. Miller and the died of L. P. Morgan. -
- J. Walker and W. Mason are still now in a prison of  Pittsburgh, while F. Harvey is escaped three weeks ago. He killed the guard of his cell and he escaped from the prison.-
- Pardon ?-
- F. Harvey is escaped three weeks ago.-
-Well,... Mr Lloyd, there's another thing... - Mr Fletcher added frightened and stammering.
-What is there?-
-Do you remember I said that they went in prison? The lawyer who incriminated them was Roger D. Evans, the father of Sam Evans!
-Sam is in peril of life! Hurry up! We must guard him!-
Chapter seven
The game starts

The only people who knows the identity of the killer were Agent Lloyd and Mr Fletcher. They take on the service car and drive through the city to meet the guys and advice them about the identity of the killer.
-Answer at the mobile, Tom!- Mr Lloyd shouted.
-Hello! I'm Tom. I'm busy at the moment. I... - the answering machine was repeating.
-He doesn't answer. Go to his house –

The two policeman arrived at Tom's house. They knocked at the door.
-Just a moment! I'm arriving! - A voice said. - Here I am.-
It was Tom. He was with Sam and Kate for fortune.
-Agent Lloyd, why are you here?- Tom asked.
-It isn't the moment of the explanation.- He said with an authoritative tone.
-Please, follow me. We must go to the police station.- He added

Few minutes later...
-The identity of the killer isn't a mystery now. We know he is Frank Harvey.- Mr Lloyd said.
-It's a very nice joke. - Sam said. -What's the truth?-
Mr Lloyd was disconcerted by Tom's words.
- F. Harvey, the escaped , is died yesterday.- Tom explained.
- The notice was on the 13th page of the New York Times. He is died during a shooting between rival bands, following the official version.- Kate specified.
-Where?-
-In the Bronx.-

The group arrived at the place of the murder.
-Good morning. Can I help you?- A policeman said.
-Yes. I'm Agent Lloyd, District of Manhattan. I must see the body of F. Harvey.-
-Yes, of course.-
He went to the body of F. Harvey. It presented lots of wounds, but these were caused by falls, only one was by a knife. It was near the heart.
-I don't think he is died during the shooting. He is died before.- Mr Lloyd deduced.
-He hasn't any motive to be there yesterday.-
-We can't know why he was here, and the same to F. Baker, but miss Lindsay... - Tom was thinking.
-Mr Lloyd, I found that a few seconds ago.- Kate said.

It was an other note that said:
“Me: 5 Others:1. I'm going to win the my set. Poor Lindsay, for the bad luck she is also alive.
Zero
P.S. The game starts now.”
Chapter eight
The new menace

-The game starts now. What does it means? - Kate asked .
-We don't know what does it mean.- Sam answered.
-Tom, Kate … I thought something yesterday: how the victims arrived there? It's strange. They met Zero in places a long way off from their house, in unusual places. - Tom explained.
-Yes,... It's a very strange, but we can't know why they were there. - Sam replied.
-It' s right, but if we think as Zero thinks, we might found the next victim.- Tom explained.
-The mind of a criminal isn't easy to understand.-
-Dear Sam, that's wrong. Do you remember the last message of Zero? He said “I'm going to win my set.” Set is a part of the match of  the tennis. Everybody wins a set when makes 6 points, called games. He said he is 2 to 1, so he was expecting Lindsay were died and he knows she is still alive now. If he will win he must kill Lindsay Miller.-
-Incredible! Do you understand that only thinking? You are the best, Tom. - Kate said.
-Thanks, Kate. If we will have more informations we must return to miss Miller before than Zero.-

The three friends went to the hospital. Miss Miller was still here. Kate knocked on the door.
-Miss Miller, I'm Kate Buchan. Can I enter? -
-Yes, of course.- The woman answered.
-Good morning, Miss Miller! - Sam and Kate said.
-I imagine you are here to make more questions.- Miss Miller said.
-Yes, it is so. We want to know how Zero contacted you.- Sam answered.
-Zero? Does my aggressor firm so?-
-Yes. It may be its name.-
-Well... If I remember correctly, he sent a letter to me.-
-Where is that letter?  Is it here? - Kate asked.
-No, I'm sorry. It's in my flat...-
Somebody knocked the door.
-Excuse me, I'm the nurse.- The man said and added.- The doctor said me to inject you a little quantity of adrenaline.-
-Here I am.- Miss Miller said.
-I'm sorry but it isn't possible to have visits during this operations. You must get out.-
-Ok. There aren't any problems.- The guys replied.

They went out and few seconds later they heard Miss Miller's shout.
-Somebody helps me!- The woman shout.
-What's happening there?- Tom said.
-We must enter.- Kate replied
While they entered in the room, the nurse turned and  escaped making his way through the friends.
-I know him: I saw it at the park. He is Zero!! - Sam shouted .
Chapter nine
The last meeting with Zero

-Miss Miller, how are you?- Tom asked.
-Don't worry, she feels well.- This were the words of Mr Lloyd.
-The operation is successful. You had reason, Jack. Zero was came here .- Miss Miller said.
-Modestly, I always have reason. - Mr Lloyd affirmed joking. - However, Jack saw Zero, so, can you describe him?-
-Yes, I can. - Sam said

The next day, at the police station, …
-Sam, Tom, Kate, come here please.- Mr Lloyd said.
When the guys came there he added - This is the face of Zero that Sam described me, is it right? My team made a research and we identify Zero, finally: his name is Gerald Fitzroy.
I know him. He is one of the better fencer in the world, his nickname is “the Star”.-

Fitzroy was a fencer, but five years ago, he entered the circulation of the drugs. He received the drugs by F. Harvey and L. P. Morgan, alias F. K. Baker. Miss Miller discovered that circulation and arrested the three men; Fitzroy was absolved at the process but he fell into disgraces. He swore to revenge himself versus who ruined his life.

-We received this letter this morning by G. Fitzroy. I'm going to read that now. It says:
“Well, shit. Now you know who I am. I can't hide myself for a long time. I decided to dare you to find and to arrest me. I'm going to gave you some clues. If you will find and defeat me  I hand myself over the police, otherwise you'll died like at Morgan and Harvey. Your death isn't far to this lucky day of April. Prepare yourself.
This is the time of the swords.
G. Fitzroy.
P.S. The first clue is : see the sky of New York.”

-I already read this letter, and I resolved the mystery: he planed to assault his victims in seven points. That points coincide at Little Bear. The hospital, the park, the streets of Brooklyn and Bronx coincide at four points. Two other were the points of the homicide of the judge M. Green, that happened last year, and the point of the homicide of the policeman S. Ramsay, who helped miss Miller. The last point is the point of our meeting with him. It's in the Queen. It coincided... with the house of... the house of... - Mr Lloyd said. He didn't believed and he wanted to don't believe at what he was going to say.
-It was the house of … - Kate said.
Mr Fletcher was listening the conversation and decided to answer instead of Mr Lloyd.
-The point of the meeting with Zero is in the Queen. It was the house of the lawyer who released and sentenced him at his unlucky life.-
-Who is him?- Kate asked.
-He is... Roger... Roger D. Evans, Sam's father.- Mr Lloyd murmured.
-He is Roger D. Evans, your father, Sam. - Mr Fletcher repeated.
Chapter ten
The appointment with Zero

-Excuse me, did you said Roger D. Evans?- Sam asked. He was shocked by the notice.
-Yes, I did. Your father, Sam, was the lawyer at the process of  G. Fitzroy. He was a member of the defence of G. Fitzroy.- Mr Lloyd explained.-However you can go out now.-
- I recommend you to don't go out without one of  my men. - Mr Fletcher added.

The next day...
-You father is a lawyer! Why didn't you said that to us?- Kate asked.
-You never asked something about my father.- Sam answered.
Some seconds after Sam's mobile rang.
-Oh, it's my mobile. Hello! Here is Sam. How are you?- The boy said.
-Hello, Sam. It's a pleasure to meet Roger's son. I think you know who I am. However I'll present myself. My name is Gerald.-
-Fitzroy! Why are you phoning me?- he exclaimed.
-Keep calm now. I'm phoning you because I want to advice you: our appointment is this evening, at 9 o'clock p.m. in your previous house. I can't talk with you more. Bye bye, Sam.- -Has he hang up?-Tom asked. Sam nodded.
-Hello. Mr Lloyd, I'm Kate Buchan. I want to advise you that Zero phoned to Sam. He gave us the hour of the appointment: today at 9 o'clock p.m.- Kate explained.
-Ok. We are preparing a plan for this night. Don't make anything by that hour!!-

At 9 o'clock, in front of Sam's last house...
-Lloyd and Mr Fletcher arriving. There's somebody else with him. Who is?- Kate said.
-Hello, guys! - Miss Miller said. -I'm sorry, I could help you only now. Fitzroy must pay for that he made.-
-Ok. We must enter in the house:  I suggest to divide us in three groups: Lindsay, go with Sam; Steve, go with Kate and I go with Sam.- Mr Lloyd ordered.
-What must we do when we will be inside?- Kate asked.
-This is a good question. We entered together and inside we're going to divide us. The first couple who sees Zero must follow him and call the other two couples. This is the plan.-
-Don't think that is so simple to capture me. I'm not stupid. Hey, Lindsay, I see you are in good form. Do you remember my voice?-
-Fitzroy! Where are you? I swear that if I'll meet you I kill you! - The woman shouted angry.
-Come on Lindsay! You aren't entered because you are frightened. You are weak, very weak. You hasn't got the fearlessness to enter.- Zero said
-Shut up! Shut up!- The woman shouted.
She was furious so she ran alone into the house.

-No!Lindsay. - Mr Fletcher shouted, but the woman wasn't listening
- Devil! At the devil all the plan. We must enter in the house before Zero kill Lindsay. Hurry up.- Lloyd exclaimed.
Chapter eleven
The time of the swords

Miss Miller ran into the house and the other members of the group came inside after her.
-Lindsay, where are you?- They shouted.
-I'm in the foyer.- She answered.
They reach miss Miller in the foyer.
-He isn't here. Well,... are we six now?- Lloyd asked.
-Yes, we are.- Mr Fletcher answered.
-Ok. Now, we must respect the plan. Agent Fletcher, go with Kate at the second floor.
I and tom are going to search Zero at the first floor, while Agent Miller and Sam must search Zero in the first floor. Who find Zero must follow him and must call the other two couples. Do you understand?-  Mr Lloyd explained.
The group reassemble itself and they continue the exploration of the house at the research of Zero. Nobody knows the house, nobody save Zero.

It passed ten minutes from when they entered in the house.
-I was forgetting to say you a thing: I can hear you, I can follow you can I can assault you in every moment. It's useless to search me. I'll come to you. This is the time of the swords.-
Tom was thinking about Zero's words. He was at the second floor with Mr Lloyd.
-If he can hear us, it means that there are some instruments that allow that.- Tom though.
Tom was thinking when he hear that the wood floor was creaking.
-The floor creaks. He refers to this. He can follow us hearing the creaks of the floor. - Tom was thinking, and then he added, talking with Mr Lloyd -Mr Lloyd, we must find miss Miller and Sam: they're in peril of life.-
-Where are they?-
-In the ground floor.-
-I know that they are in the ground floor, but where in the ground floor?-
-Shut up.- Tom laid his ear at the wood floor. He distinguished the sound of the boots of miss Miller. -I don't know what room it is, but they are exactly under us.-
-Hurry up.-

At some minutes later, miss Miller and Sam was searching Zero in the ground floor.
-Why are we searching Zero here? If he is here , he must already find us five minutes ago. The wood floor creak when we are moving.- Sam said.
-He said “I can hear you”, he refers to this.-Lindsay said.
-Yes, Lindsay. I was referring to this. It's beautiful see you again.-
Zero took his swords and hurt the right hand of Lindsay: she couldn't use her gun.
-I'm sorry. I hurt your hand. The next will be on your heart.-
He was going to hit miss Miller when...
-It isn't the moment to kill her. I'm your rival now.- Mr Lloyd said, waving a sword.
He saw the sword on the fireplace in the foyer.
-The duel starts now. Prepare you, Lloyd.-
Chapter twelve
The end of Zero

Lloyd braved Zero at duel. Zero was an excellent fencer, but Lloyd also held the trump card: Lloyd was an excellent fencer, too. He, when he was young, was one of the ten better fencer of the U.S.A.
-Do you remember when we duelled the last time, Zero?- Lloyd asked.
-Lloyd, this is the first time I duel with you.- Zero answered.
-No, it isn't. Do you remember the month of August of ten years ago? I duelled with you that time. You defeated me in the past, but it passed ten years, and now it's my turn.-

The two fighters cross the swords, in sign of respect and the duel started.
Lloyd was the first to attack: he feinted, then he try to hurt Zero on his right, but Zero shielded himself with his sword. Zero attacked Lloyd, he shielded himself  with the sword and then attacked again.

They continued this duel. The hits of the swords resound in the house. The two fighters was duelling with an incredible concentration. They was moving in all the house during the duel: the were in the foyer, then they were in the kitchen, in the living room, in the first floor.

They were climbing on the ladder of the first floor  when Zero said:
-Lloyd, you're improved, but you aren't a good fencer like at me.-
Zero hurt the left arm of Lloyd. He shouted for the pain. Immediately Lloyd hurt Zero at his right leg.
-It's true: I'm not at your level, I'm better than you. - Lloyd affirmed.

They continued to fight into the house. Lloyd stood up to Zero, but his condition wasn't perfect: his leg was bleeding and he risked to faint for the haemorrhage.
- Mr Lloyd, I'm arriving.- Miss Miller shouted.
The voice of miss Miller distracted Zero, and just then Lloyd hurt the right hand of Zero. He let the sword and it fell at the ground noisily.
Lloyd pointed the sword to Zero and said: -Gerald, game over.-
Mr Fletcher  reached Zero and Mr Lloyd.
-Good work, Jack!-

Some day later, in the New York Town Hall...
-I award you that medal, for your courage and your incredible work for the capture of Gerald Fitzroy. You are the heroes of New York: Tom Folger, Kate Buchan, Sam Evans, Philip Fletcher, Lindsay Miller and Jack Lloyd. New York is grateful with you. God bless you.!-
The mayor pronounced this words, awarding the three guys and three policemen.

Zero was arrested, the  protagonist of this story were remembered as heroes: the story of  the revenge of Zero finished so.
