Structural analysis of the novel: Structure is made up by the component part of the novel. The novel is organized into 12 chapters and it is a monologue. 1) the first chapter has the function to introduce the characters, the monologue is hold by Changez. It introduces the protagonist monologue, the relevant information: the intelligent reader can understand the protagonist is not American, he is from Lahore, in Pakistan. He is talking to an American man. The author uses a narrative technique. The first chapter sets the impressive points of the novel. The intelligent reader can understand that it is a monologue, the protagonist studied in Princeton. The writer choses to use a monologue: the protagonist is the only voice speaking. The reader has access to information from a Pakistani point of view. The reader listen to Changez words, the reader can listen to just one point of view. It is not a strong point because the idea we make up is restricted by the point of view of Changez. We have access to the story trough the way of the protagonist. We only know what we know from the point of view of he protagonist, we are in front of a unreliable narrator. We can just rely on changes thoughts. The points of strength: We can have access to Changez feelings, Changez seemed to speak directly to us. Right from the first chapter the author decides to silence the American point of view. The intelligent reader have to understand that all the story is told just by Changez point of view, we can't know all the rest. The reader can feel very close to the reader. Silence interlocutor is a focal point of the narrative. The choice could be interpreted from different angles, the American doesn't speakers because the American may feel guilty. Along the all story Changez makes us understand the American is on a mission, the American went to Pakistan and not viceversa. The intelligent reader can understand that the story is a directed consequence of what Changez tell us. The reader can understand the point of view of an Arabic and not from an America. We have to try to understand not just the point of view of one people.
