La mia percezione della Prima Guerra Mondiale:

In my opinion, World War I is one of the most important turning points in modern history (in fact, together with World War II, it is maybe the best known historical event). Indeed, on one hand it involved mostly the whole World (even States of other continents) and on the other hands it marks a revolution in the way a war is fought (since the introduction of new artillery had an unexpected consequence). In addition, even if World War I was fought between 1914-1918, it has left unforgettable marks that I can still find in my grandparents’ stories and in the common way of perceiving the idea of war.

Thanks to the growing popularity and importance of women (especially thanks to the Suffragettes), World War I could be fought by male soldier; indeed, since lots of men should cease work to join the army, women started to work in the fields and factories replacing their husband.
