NORMAN

William the Conquer was the Norman’s king and he was a vassal of the French king. In 1066 William claimed the throne of the England, because he asserted that he had earlier been promised the throne by Edward the Confessor. In the battle of Hastings William, with archers and mounted warriors, defeat the Harold’s men that were mostly foot soldier. The battle during a few hours and finished when William’s warriors killed Harold and his brothers.

After the battle of Hastings William replaced the Anglo Saxon aristocracy and built churches that adorned the towns and villages of the land. On a linguistic level there was an injection of romance language. William wanted to cement his position and so lend a land to the vassals, and they gave the king the money and the knights.
