Britain was invaded by Julius Caesar in 55 BC , but the real conquest of the country took place in the years 43–47 AD by Emperor Claudius. The first thing they did in Britain was built towns near their army bases. These towns were surrounded by walls

In the centre of a Roman town was the forum, or civic centre, which gave access to the basilica, or town hall and every town had public baths. They built 9600 kilometres of roads and the most important monument that Romans built was Hadrian's wall. It was constructed as a defensive fortification and customs barrier from the east coast to the west coast between England and Scotland.

London was founded by the romans in 43 AD. They called them Londinium and they built the London Bridge
