Ex. 8

I think some of the new invention can have really bad effects on the environment and in the social life of people around the world. Just think about nuclear power, mobile phones and space travels. They are all bad for our planet and really useless!

Before you continue I must correct you on some things you just said: nuclear power is not bad for the environment, it only releases a little vapour in the sky but it’s totally not dangerous because it’s only water. Mobile phone could be dangerous but only if you don’t know how to properly use it, and also they connect us all and permit almost everybody to know what’s happening around the World. S can’t understand why do you think space travels are a problem: it’s just science progression. If the Human race will continue like behaving like it’s doing right now, we’ll have to find a solution that most probably will be the colonization of another planet (like a Plan B).

Ex. 9

The very first idea about the Light-speed travel was probably born in 1980, when George Lucas was filming “Star wars: A new Hope”, since then, scientist have always tried to find a way to make this travelling way possible. Unluckily, some of the most important astrophysics of our time (Stephen Hawking, Carl Sagan, Neil Tyson etc.) realised that travelling at the properly speed of light is impossible ‘cause this speed is a physics law, you can’t surpass it or even come too near to.

However, people thanks to this idea have become always more interested in astrophysics and in science-fiction.
