I LOOK INTO MY GLASS

Just considering the title the poem the reader may expect the poem to be a lyrical poem, because of the possessive adjective “my”. This poem may be about the speaking voice's feelings and moods.

Taking into consideration the layout you can understand that this is a poem because it is arranged into lines. It is organized in three stanzas of four lines each.

In the first stanza the poet says that he looks on his mirror and notices that the time is passed and he has became older and his heart thinner. In the second stanza he says that he could wait his endless rest alone because of the heart which grown cold to him. In the last stanza the poet says that there is time to make him suffer and let parts abide. The speaker is talking about the reaction of growing and the emotions that  you feel when you get older.

There are a lot of words that belongs to the semantic field of the time such as “for then”, “grown”, “endless” and “time”. The word “Time” is capitalized because it is a crucial word, so it is a keyword. There are also a lot of alliterations and some assonances, just to make easier for the reader to remember it.

This poem has a very important meaning: time passes and it wastes everyone’s energy, look and beauty.
