• “Do you always do what your friends do? Why? Why not?” : I rarely follow what other people do because I reckon it is fundamental for everybody to follow your own thoughts and not others’.
• “Do you ask your parent’s advice whenever you are in a difficult situation? Why? Why not?” : Even though I usually talk about everything with my parents or older sisters, I tend to be very open with them even when it comes to talking out difficult situations I’m living outside or inside the house.
• “What makes you sometimes feel depressed?” : I try to be the happiest version of me 24/7, but, being human, I sometimes get sad or tensed because of peer pressure or general anxiety you can only experience when you are a teenager: school pressure, friendships and love problems are huge issues when you are young.

UNIT 2

A) 

• “Do you like going to parties? What parties?” : Yes, I do. I really enjoy myself when I go to parties with my friends, even though it may depend on the discotheque we decide to visit if we are not having a house party.
• “How do you usually spend New Year’s Day?” : I always spend New Year’s Day among with friends, wether we are at one’s house or the other’s, we always have the best fun.
• “Do you often have parties at your home?” No, I don’t. My mother doesn’t want me to throw parties at my house.
• “When is your next birthday?” My next birthday is on the 25th November, so in 12 days!

B)

1. It’s New Year’s Day and they are making New Year’s resolutions.
2. Frances is planning to look for a new job.
3. Mum asks Ian to check a university for places next year.
4. Ian suffests having a party with Frances.
5. Frances’ restaurant caters for parties at The Feathers’ Hotel.
6. Dad worries that choosing the hotel for the party is going to be an expensive solution.
7. Dad’s idea is to throw the party by hiring the school’s hall so as to be able to spend more money on the band.
8. The band they are talking about is the Catfish Brothers.
9. Ian says that his mother doesn’t have a good sense of humor like Uncle Bob.
10. Each of them is going to invite around fifty people.

UNIT 3

A)

• “Have you caught any of the children’s diseases such as chicken pox, mumps or measles? What was it like?” : Yes, I had. When I was 3, I caught chicken pox. It lasted for more or less one week and it gave me a heavy fever, painting my skin with numerous little dots.
• “Would you like to take part in a car race? Why? Why not?” No, I wouldn’t. I always get bad anxiety whenever I have to do something dangerous, so I would be too scared.

A)

• “Do you think teenage street gangs are dangerous?” : Yes, I do. Teenagers who take part in gangs are not mature people, and so they don’t recognize respect.
• “Why do most young hackers like gaining access to the data systems of companies?” : Even though I don’t know anything about hacking, I reckon hackers like gaining access to data systems because they envy what they don’t have and want to get it at all costs.
• “Why are more and more people taking up self-defence classes today?” : Over the years, humans have always been dangerous. I think people are just trying to prevent something bad from happening to them and ruining their lives.

A)

• “Do you like shopping? What sort of things do you buy?” : Yes, I do. I prefer to go shopping for clothes, but sometimes I even dedicate myself to only shop for accessories or skin products.
• “Where do you usually go shopping?” : I usually go shopping in malls where they have shops such as Calvin Klein, Terranova or H&M, sometimes also Nike, Adidas or Puma if I am feeling sporty.
• “Have you ever been disappointed by something you bought?” : Yes, I had.
• “Did you take it back to the place you bought it from? What happened?” : No, I didn’t. I always try to renew a piece of clothing if I have it but I don’t like its original form or aestetichs.
