The first chapter of "The Reluctant Fundamentalist" is meant to introduce the novel. The chapter starts by characterising Changez's guest who is an American guy. The protagonist met him in Manila and decided to offer him a cup of tea , just to start a conversation and to tell him about his life. The content of the chapter is Changez'job interview at Underwood samson, an important american valuation firm. the real important aspects of the chapter are the words used to characterize Changez and his guest. those words can be useful to get the personality of the characters: changez, initialy descibes the american referring to a type of person. The reader can understand the discrimination that changez made against american people, that probably comes from a huge einger. more over the reader can get the love of the protagonist of his birth land, assirting that american instituation are better. by the way, the american guy looks uncorfotable with changez and it is clear that he doesn't trust the pakistan guy.
