COSA FAREI SE MIO FIGLIO FOSSE MALATO DI CANCRO?

If I discovered that my son has cancer, I think I would be shocked. That would be a terrible and upsetting news. When a child is diagnosed with cancer, for all family members, without exception, it is a severe blow. Lots of parents are in despair and they feel they lost the ground beneath them. They feel a huge pain, as they had already lost their child. Diagnosis is followed by surgery and chemotherapies and both of them have their side effects. For parents this is a really traumatic event that entails fears, sadness, guilt, anger and sometimes also rejection. If I were in this situation, I would be certainly grieved and frightened, because I wouldn’t know how to behave and what to do. I think I would take my son to the best doctors I know and I would make sure he gets the best medical care available.  In all these moments I would never leave him alone, but I’d try to support him and take his mind off it. I wouldn't burden him the disease and I would try not to let the protection prevail, but to treat him like before, after having told him the whole truth.
