In the Reluctant Fundamentalist’s chapters 1 and 2 there are idealistic elements about America:

1.“This is a dream come true. Princeton inspired in me the feeling that my life was a film in which I was the star and everything was possible.” (Chapter 1, p. 3). In this case Changez suggests that the American Dream is little more than a fantasy.

2.“I was a perfect breast (…) and I was confident of getting any job I wanted.” (Chapter 1, p.5). America allows Changez to do and have everything.

3.“Princeton made everything possible for me." (Chapter 1, p. 16). America realizes your dreams.

4. “She and the others were members of the university’s most prestigious eating club (…)” (Chapter 2, p.19). Be part of the American system gives you a convenient and fruitful life.
