Argumentative text about note taking

“the ability to take in information and make it one’s own by processing it, restructuring it, and then presenting it in a form so that it can be understood by others is one of those “basic skills” that is useful throughout life. If students don’t have that skill or have a feeble version of it and they never take notes, when will the skill develop? “

There is also accumulating evidence that giving students teacher-prepared notes or PowerPoint slides does not improve their performance. Students need to take notes in ways that are meaningful to them. It also helps when notes are restructured. The material presented in class is usually ordered in a linear fashion. “It makes sense to return to one’s notes and organize them in a way that reflects the connections between ideas rather than simply the chronology of presentation.” “… but we do so needing to remember “that it is the process, the engagement with the material—the cognitive exercise involved in recollecting, summarizing, reorganizing and restructuring [the notes] that actually matters the most.”

Note taking is a form of gathering information about a discussed topic and the nominal style is the best type to be quick, organized and simplify concepts and connections.

The note taking skill is really important especially for students because it helps focusing on the different topics and what the speakers say, moreover helps making an organized mental order to write down concepts and requires the selection of the information given, indeed narrative style isn’t always good because it doesn’t get straight to the point and makes people write even not needed sentences.

But if a student doesn’t exercise on note taking and thinks it is an irrelevant ability probably he won’t develop this technique or he will develop it really late compared to the others and this is not a positive thing, because note taking it’s a skill not only useful in school but even in the world of work and it can show more possible jobs and more roads.

To sum up nominal note taking even if is difficult to learn it is worth the effort because it’s going to stick into your mind forever and it will show itself useful.
