There is no doubt that taking notes is an underrated skill and it is a valuable life skill. In this text I am going to discuss the idea that if you are able to take good notes, you will be more effective in pursuing your goals and comprehension and recall are improved when people make their own notes rather than rely on materials provided by others.

To begin with, everyone have own way of taking notes. Some people prefer using mind maps where they start off by noting the main concept in the middle of the page and then they go into more depth by adding other related sub-concepts. Others, instead, prefer writing down almost everything they hear. However, there are some fundamental rules that everyone should follow if they want to take proper/accurate notes.

First of all, it is very important to listen and understand what is being presented by the speaker.

Second, you should pinpoint the fundamental aspects of the topic debated/discussed and recognise/identify primary and secondary information. You have to focus and try to catch the key concepts of the lesson.

Third, you should organise the selected information in a correct hierarchy. If needed, you can add significant examples, quantitative or quantitative data to support the topic.

Fourth, there are some techniques that you can always use. you should always use a language appropriate to the theme debated. For examples, you can use nominal phrases, functional abbreviations, graphic organizers (e.g. bullet points, arrows, numbered list, linking lines), key words… these techniques and methods analysis allow to take notes in the best way. In my opinion, the more you interact with your notes the more you will be able to remember, memorize and understand information.

Taking notes is very important to study and learn new information. It helps you to maximize what you learn and minimize your review time. Taking notes bring yourself to construct a mental representation of the ideas you are interact and helps you to understand the subject matter you are working with. You can reword notes and compare with other notes. Based on them you can built a summary. Once created, your notes provide the source material for your next creative or business project.

Concluding, I think that note taking is a crucial part of every person’s life. It allow you to understand and learn the subject you are studying to create a mental image of argumentation.
