“I wish you peace” by Eagles

I wish you peace when the cold winds blow
Warmed by the fire's glow
I wish you comfort in the, the lonely time
And arms to hold you when you ache inside

I wish you hope when things are going bad
Kind words when times are sad
I wish you shelter from the, the raging wind
Cooling waters at the fever's end

I wish you peace when times are hard
The light to guide you through the dark
And when storms are high and your, your dreams are low

I wish you the strength to let love grow on
I wish you the strength to let love flow

I wish you peace when times are hard
A light to guide you through the dark
And when storms are high and your, you dreams are low
I wish you the strength to let let grown on
I wish you the strength to let love flow on
I wish you the strength to let love glow on
I wish you the strength to let love go

Beginning from the title the intelligent listener wonders his self about the theme of the peace, then he starts to ask to who is adressed the song because of the pronoun “you” who can be refered to one person or to all the people of the world; then the intelligent listener wonders about the kind of peace to the writer is refering to because he could refer to the inner and personal peace but also to the peace against the war.

The songi s organized into five irregoular verces: in the first stanza the writer wishes inner peace to a specific person because he expresses his desire to the addressed of the song to be fine also when the weather outside is cold, indeed he uses the expression ”when the cold winds blow” (to express cold) hoping he would have hot inside “warmed by fire’s glow”; he also describes others situations like “the lonely time” and “when you ache inside” where he hopes for the addressed hugs using the expression “arms to hold you”.

In the second stanza the writer is continuing to dedicate the song to a specific person because he uses the pronoun “you”, he wishes peace for his adressed when he or she is going to find him self in bad situations “when things are going bad” he writer immagine peace into an help given by another person with “kind words”. Then the writer sees adversities in natural event like “the raging wind” and “cooling water at the fever’s end”.

In the third stanza the writer compares peace to the light in the dark while the moments of difficoulty to the dark and to an high storm whereas the addressed’s dreams are low so he wants to make understand that a person’s dreams can be stronger than a storm also if it is heavy but if the dreamer is tenacious anything can stop him and forbid him to reach his lens.

In the chourus the writer wishes the addressed strenght to grow on and to let love fly on, so he wants the reader lives before in peace with himself and then in peace with the others.

He suggest him ever to follow his dreams also, especially if they are too heavy and if he, or she, is certain to what he wants to do, but, before to do it, he has to have inner peace.

“Imagine” by John Lennon

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Beginning from the title the intelligent listener wonders about the word “imagine” that could have three meanings: to form a mental imagine of something not actually present to the scene, to believe or to guess; so the song writer (John Lennon in this case) tries to invite his listener to wonder and to immagine something different, the world, for example, that has ever been in war for the power, for prosperity or for social difference. I would thing that John Lennon wrote this song to go against the wars because during his life, expecially during the 70’s of the XX century he fight against wars and his fight toke him to death.

The song is organised into three stanzas and two chouruses: in the first stanza he encourages the listener to immagine about a world where hell and heaven don’t exist: the only thing that he really things exist is the sky and people that live in peace with each other. The sky that Lennon wants to exist is could represent peace, he doesn’t immagine heaven and hell because they represent the eternal fight between good and bad, so the composer imagines a world where don’t exist neither this kind of fight.

In the second stanza the writer continues to invite the listener to imagine a world of peace where neither the Countries or the religions kill people to follow economical or spiritual interests; so after talking about an astract peace, Lennon wants to stop concrete wars and violences reducing the power of the States and of the religions.

In the first chourus the writer wants people stop thinking his ideas are an hutopy because there is a lot of people that dreams about it, so if everyone does his little part we can arrive to realize a common dream stopping the wars and disparities.

In the third stanza the composer wants the listener imagine a world without social disparity where anyone owns anything but where everything is possessed by everyone and it is shared with everyone.

With this song John Lennon wants to invite people to thinking about a relizable world of peace: it is possible only if everyone contributes to make something to change the world taking apart his own interests.

“Peace” by Bethel Music feat We The Kingdom

When my mind is like a battlefield
And my heart is overcome by fear
And hope seems like a ship that’s lost at sea

My enemies on every side
And I’m tempted to run and hide
Your gentle whisper reaches out to me

Peace
Holds me when I’m broken
Sweet peace
That passes understanding
When the whole wide world is crashing down
I fall to my knees
And breathe in Your peace

Fiery arrows whistling
The terror of the night sets in
But I can feel Your angels all around

I am resting underneath
The shelter of Your mighty wings
Your promises are where my hope is found

I remember who You are
You’re the God who’s never far
So I will not be afraid
God, You always keep me safe in Your arms

I remember who You are
You’re the God who’s never ever far away
So I will not be afraid
God, You always, You always keep me safe

You give me peace
That holds me when I’m broken
Sweet peace
That passes understanding
When the whole wide world is crashing down
I fall to my knees
And breathe in
I breathe You, I breathe You in
Take a deep breath and be still
And know that You are God alone

Beginning from the title the intelligent listener wonders about the word “peace” and the idea of peace: that could assume different shapes and different battlefield: the inner peace, the peace in the world, the religious peace… This song probbly refered to the general idea of peace because there isn’t any abjective before the word “peace” it could be also a description of peace in the singer’s mind.

The first verse the singer describes a war situation inside of him, the intelligent reader can understand this writer’s feelings from the sentence “my mind is like a batteflied”, “my heart is overcome by fear” and “I hope seems like a ship that’s lost on the sea”. In this stanza he uses a metaphore to express his interiority.

In the second stanza the singer continues to describes his interiority seeing “his enemies on every side” and he hasn’t the strenght to excape from them and the only thing that comfort him is his listener’s voice.

Reading this first two verces we can understand that the singer is talking about his feeling and his probably state of loneliness where there is only a person can help him: this person is peace, we can understand that the singer personificates him that “hold me when I am broken”, than he tries to describe him like a person who love him because he uses the abjective “sweet” arrived to this chourus the intelligent reader can understand the singer is talking to peace who can appease him when “the whole world is crashing down”, probably at the end he i stalking to God because there is written “in Your peace” we can understand that the writer is referring to a godness because the adjective “Your” has been written with the first letter in capital and usually when someone writes about God in the adjective uses the capital letter.

In the following verse the writer is taling about an other situation of interior war because he says “fiery arrows whistling” and “the terror of the nights sets in” but he proposes a solution to this problem hat are God’s angels that are ready to protect him and he admittes his devotion and his “positive” fear about God with a pray. So in this song the writer admitts to live a continue interior war but there is God that helps him to make it finish.
