                                           IMAGINE by John Lennon

Considering the title, I expect this song to be about something that we can imagine, something that we fantasize about.

The layout shows that this lyric is organized into 5 stanzas and to be more precise, into 3 verse and 2 chorus

.
So first of all looking at the layout we can see that each of the three verse start with "Imagine" followed by an aswer: "imagine there’s no Heaven – It’s easy if you try", "imagine there’s no countries – It’s not so hard to do" and "imagine no possession – I wonder if you can". We can also see that the last part of each verse has almost the same pattern as the starting one but here the refrain insists in the phrase "Imagine all the people" followed by some comments: in the first verse "living for today", in the second one "living life in peace" and in the third one "sharing all the world".

In the first verse, the speaking voice is trying to say that we all should live the present and that we should try to not think about Heaven or Hell and it's easy to think like that if we try to. The speaking voice tells us to imagine just a sky above us where we live only the present.

In the first two lines pf the second verse the speaking voice is telling us to imagine a world where no countries exist and where no boundries can separate people. In the following two lines he says to imagine a world where not a single person has to kill something or die for something and where there is no religion. He talks about religion because religione can divide people and even make people of a different religion hate people who believe in another religion. He wants us to live a peaceful life where we consider everyone the same.
In the chorus, the lyrical I says that maybe he's a dreamer because it won't be that easy to have a world like the one described before. He knows that not many people have a dream like this but he know that one day eveyone will be a dreamer like him and after that, the world will be as one where we will accept everyone without discriminating or hating on anyone.

In the third verse he asks us to imagine a world where no one owns anything so that no one could ever fight against each other for greed or hunger. He wants us to imagine a world where we can share everything and where everybody has the same amount of things as the others. But the thing that we need the most is brotherhood.

In the last chorus the speaking voice says the exact same thing as the one he said in the previous chorus but unlike that one, here in the last line he says that if we all start to have a dream like his', the world will live as one.
