Analysis – Can Characterization

Can is one of the two main characters of the series Erkenci Kus. He is a worldwide known photographer that travels around the world. Can is both directly and indirectly presented by the director, he appears as a very dynamic figure (beginning with his job and passion for journey). As just said, he is connoted either with the use of the showing technique or with telling, because the reader’s and listener’s opinion is conditioned either by other characters’ view or by his actions and clothes.

Can, in the series, is presented like the perfect man, he is massive (and therefore strong), a company boss and sentimental. Indeed, even he is bulky, demonstrates to be able to be empathic and lovable. From this presentation and thanks to other events in the episode (such as the kiss with Sanem), the listener understands that the story will be fantastic and fabulous like in tales.

Can (even thanks to his muscles) knows how to be respected and be authoritarian. In the meanwhile, he is respectful and sweet. Probably, his character is round, that means that he changes during the story depending on what he experiences and who he meets.
