Manuel Vrizzi said that one of the most important aim of Lisbon Strategy is to improve the study of foreign languages, because Europe has to improve the connection and the communication among the countries: I agree with his comment, but I also think it is very important that this improving to the foreign language must start in every italian school, learned by every teacher, above all English, that is more important than the others langauges because it is the most spoken language in the world.

Europe may become a colossus and improve her competition at international level.
The re-launching of the Lisbon Strategy must aim at knowledge, innovation, human resource and lifelong learning.
The work on languages reduces unemployment and promotes social cohesion and economic development. Education has a very strong role and it will be better coordinated at European level (European dimension of education – qualification valuable at European level).
The education is the most important aspect to be considered: it only provides future workers qualified in languages and technologies.
Schools and training institutions may adopt a holistic approach to the teaching
of language. There must be an appropriate connections between the teaching of ‘mother tongue’,
‘foreign’ languages, the language of instruction, and the languages of migrant communities. Last but not least I think that improving contacts and effective networks between students and teachers, at a regional, national and European level may facilitate the learning of foreign language study.

In my opinion Magonara Luca is wrong because to improve the present we need to evolve in time. Society changes every time and it is impossible think to the present without considering the effect of our action in the future. It is surely important think to the present before thinking to future, but you can't say that think to future is a celebral masturbation, it is only creating a plan to change our situation in a better one, and you can't change one think only in present: you always need time to enact a stategy. More over you told me that only 2 millions people know Esperanto, don't you think English is more easy to learn and that it facilitate the communication everywhere in the world? Everybody has to know English nowadays. Esperanto would surely not difficult to learn but I'm sure it will take us more time and money than the learning of English: how many teachers know Esperanto nowadays? Only few. So also if it is a high aim it is actually really difficult to enact.

In my opinion proposals for the future are only form of cerebral masturbation, because as we know the future does not exist. As a matter of fact we can just consider the present, and that is not idyllic. We can join nice and clever projects like Erasmus and Leonardo, but how long we will able to enjoy them?
There is no use in learning foreign languanges I think UE should invest money in the teaching of Esperanto. Esperanto could be a fine solution to all our problems of communication. It is not a natural language, but it is flexible and easy to learn. There will not be any difference between native and non native speakers. Esperanto can represent every linguistic culture. It could be taught in primary school and the training of teachers could be the same in all Europe .
Claude Piron, a psychologist formerly at the University of Geneva and Chinese-English-Russian-Spanish translator for the United Nations, argued that Esperanto is far more "brain friendly" than many ethnic languages. "Esperanto relies entirely on innate reflexes [and] differs from all other languages in that you can always trust your natural tendency to generalize patterns. [...] The same neuropsychological law [— called by] Jean Piaget generalizing assimilation — applies to word formation as well as to grammar."

I think that to know the Lisbon Strategy and everything happens and will happen in the European Institutions is very important to create in our minds some ideas about how will be our future and to make easy the students’ integration in the work world, and in particular to understand the economic and social dynamics of the planet. Therefore in my opinion the message of the Lisbon Strategy must be given to every European citizen to achieve the objectives and to live in a better future.

I think foreign languages are the most important resource in a world where communication is the main way to develop.
I've read an article from "L'Espresso" where the journalist says that Europe isn't competitive in economy because the Europeans don't know foreign languages.I think that this kind of knowledge must be improve since we are child:school must give resources to people to help the development of their knowledge and to make their ideas innovating;as a matter of fact who knows more languages can study in other languages and other cultures so he can have a general idea of the differences.

I think that the EU should promote expecially the study-travels and the cultural exchanges between the member states, to make us citizens know that we are part of this important system, that works for our future. Particullary I think it would be better if we feel Europe as a cross of cultures and languages, that we must join.
So in the end I think we must know our European contemporary from the other member states.

One of the highest aims of the Lisbon Strategy is the study of foreign languages: this goal will facilitate the connection and the communication among the countries.
English is surely more important than the others langauges because is the most popular language in the world, and so we have to know English like a second mother language.
The study of 3 or more languages (here I agree with MVirgolin) could be a waste of time, because in my opinion is better to know less languages but know them very well.
I think that students must improve the quality of their conversation and is possible only talking often in English when we have the oppotunity to do it and reading books in English to improve our dictionary, more over the use of Thesaurus will contribute to evoid a boring conversation with too much repetiotions.

Foreign languages are important nowadays and will be even more important in the future to communicate with people allover the world, therefore promote them becomes a priority for each country. In my opinion countries could introduce on TV, channels in different languages, and in particular channels for babies. Countries could also promote in schools stage and cultural exchange with other countries of the E.U. to implement students’ competences.

I think Lisbon Strategy has some really important aims; we, the citizens of the future, have to understand how important they are: as an example, studying a foreign language is fundamental in a global world where everyone speaks at least 2 languages.
In my opinion, school is the first place where citizens can learn those important things. We are the workers of the future: it's us who has to make the Lisbon Strategy possible.

In my opinion the study of the Lisbon Strategy gives us a good possibility to know more about Europe. It is also important to know what will hapen in our future. The use of English is necessary and the project help us to improve our knowledge.

In my opinion, it's important to study the Lisbon Strategy for two reasons:
first of all, we implement our knowledge about the European Union and its projects.
Then, it improves our English, as a matter of fact, studying the Lisbon Strategy we learn the language of politics and burocracy.
On February 26, 2007 MVirgolin said:
In my opinion studying the Lisbon Strategy may cause boredom but at the same time our life-style will surely be affected by it and so it is very important to know the EU plans of action.
Foreing language study is a match point for the EU citizens to collaborate. The international collaboration is a must to improve the communication system, scientific research and our individual skills.
In a pratical sense, I think that people should learn the english language because it is the most spoken language in the world. In addition to this I think that studying 3 or more languages isn't so indispensable and would take too much time.

I think that studying the Lisbon Strategy is important because it opens your eyes to the future.
To promote language learning and teaching is a relevant step of the Lisbon Strategy. Europe diversity in nowhere clearer than in its languages: everyone should, as a general rule, be able to speack two foreign languages. Therefore learning and teaching of foreign languages have to be improved. The students must be encouraged in the language learning, increasing the awareness of this necessity. As a matter of fact today the language is a big force instrument because it is the comunication key point. In my opinion,in addition to the study of the language in class, it is important to foster the students in the activities were they are egg on the use of foreign language, like study tours or works were the comunication is a key point.

To my way of thinking studying the Lisbon Strategy is important, because it makes me aware of which are the problems of the European Union, and how the E.U. wants to face them. I also understand that knowledge would be essential to Europe to compete in economical and technological fields. Even if the role of each singular citizen could be important in the future of the E.U., actually I don’t feel part of the future, maybe because I cannot do anything concrete yet.
On February 22, 2007 SBufo said:
Even if we never think about it, we all are citizens of the European Union.
Therefore, knowledge of the EU is a must.
Future isn't a bed of roses. The Lisbon Strategy suggests how to face the world and challenges that may come. But tango is for two: our role is to work hard to contribute to the implementation of the Lisbon Strategy.

I think that study the Lisbon Strategy is very important. As a matter of fact it introduces me in a new vision: it suggests what would chenge about the world of work and about the economic field. Therefore it would be a part of my future. An important thing promoting by the Lisbon strategy is the study of the foreign languages. In my opinion in this world globalised is very important to know at least a foreign language, it is a reason because I think that the project we are developing is very important and interesting.

In my opinion there is the need to promote language teaching and learning, because Europe must became a knowledge-based system. Moreover European citizens want to feel part of future, but it’s necessary to implement Lisbon Strategy. Therefore we have a good challenge, do we want to waste it?

Although I feel involved in studying the Lisbon strategy, because it represents my middle-term perspectives of work, I don't feel part of future. That means the projects of development carrying out within the Lisbon strategy belong to present, and the future is no more than an idea. Lisbon, on the contrary will affect during next years all our real life.
Maybe I’m wrong and the future is in the air but I can’t feel it everywhere.

In my opinion studying the Lisbon Strategy is very stimulating for the student: it gives him awareness about the economical (and following in all the other fields) situation of its country as a part of a whole; moreover it helps in knowing about all the possibilities given.

In effect knowledge means to think mostly with your own head, and the awareness of living in a Europe that is trying to become a knowledge-based system is very important for our future of students and workers.
