SCHOOL SISTEM IN ENGLAND
Education is important in England, English children are required by law to have an education until they are 16 years old. Education is compulsory but school isn’t compulsory in fact the education Act of 1996 saId that the students can be educated at home.
There are two types of schools: State schools and Public schools.
State schools are funded by the State, whiLE Public schools are private because parents pay for children’s education, public because everybody can apply and independent because THEY aren’t run by governament.
About 94 per cent of pupils receive free education, while 6 per cent attend independent schools.
All schools follow the same National curriculum. It consists of 10 subjects which all children must study at school and all schools have a school year that is 39 weeks long and is divided into six terms.
In England there are two types of education. The pupils begin whit primary education at the age of five and when they are eleven they move to secondary school until they are 16,17 or 18. Students are tested during their education with four key stages. These are key stage 1,from 5 to 7; key stage, 2 from 7 to 11: key stage 3, from 11 to 14; key stage 4,from 11 to 14.( key stages 1 and 2 are included in the primary education and key stage 3 and 4 are included in the secondary education). There are three types of secondary school:
· Comprehensive
· Grammar
· High school
Grammar schools are selective because students enter after taking a test of ability, and offer a general education. Comprehensive school and high schools aren’t selective, in fact all students with different abilities can attend these schools.>br> After attending secondary school students take an exam the GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education).
All students are tested in Mathematics, English Literature, English composition, chemistry, Biolog.
After passing the GCSE some students leave school; others go to college for two more years from 16 to 18. At the end of college students take another exam the A-levels. This exam tests students in three or four subjects. If they pass this exam they can go to university.[img1]
