  • name and social status: The prioress was known as Madame Eglantine. She spoke French and so she belonged to the nobility.
  • Education and manners: Her greatest pleasure was in Etiquette and so she had good table manners. Her demeanour war pleasant and dignified. She was a person well deserving of esteem. She was very sensible.
  • Physical appearance: Her nose was well-shaped, her eyes were grey-blue and were very nice, her mouth was small and red. She was not a small person.
  • Experience of life: She studied French and lived at the convent "Stratford-at-Bow".
  • Clothes/style of dress: Her cloak was very elegant and she had a coral rosary with green beads, from which hung a gold brooch.
