  1. The period during which the Renaissance developed in England was in 1485 with the accession of the House of Tudor to the throne.
  2. The term ‘Renaissance' means a new birth of art ,literature and philosophy of antiquity.
  3. The English Renaissance developed later than in Italy because in England there was a long period of wars, the War of Hundred years and the War of the Roses, it caused a stagnation of creative art.
  4. In Renaissance literature woman is married, is loyal to her husband and give birth to boys. Besides man is well-educated, is cultural, is a gentleman and understand the arts and sciences. He also had to have refinement, be of noble birth and have courage.
  5. In the ballad woman is concreted and she is considered dangerous because she tempted men, but woman could be considered like Madonna. In the sonnet woman is not concreted because she is considered like an angel that connect man to God.
  6. The ballad and the sonnet were written to be sound, but their form is different. The ballad's form is simple and regular, there are stanzas of four lines which usually rhyme ‘abcb' or ‘abab' and uses repetitions especially in refrains. There are two types of sonnet, the first is organized into two quatrains and two tercets. While the second is organized into three quatrains a couplet. Sonneteers created a series of conventional imagines to express love and describe unattainable mistresses.
  7. In the ballad the language is direct and simple and makes use of repetition, a figure of speech based on the repeated use of phrase, word, or sound. The sonnet makes use of many figures of speech to communicate and it makes use of rhyme like ballad because they were written to be sound and rhymes facilitated memorization.
