In the 12th century began to emerge a new formal theater with a moral and religious function: the Drama. It consisted of religious rituals. It developed inside the Church and in time it took place outside it. These representations were called Miracles and Mystery Plays. They told about biblical stories of the Old and New Testament. They were used form the Church to give a religious education to common people. They were written in the English spoken by local people and they were anonymous. Performances went on from early morning till late evening in June, when Corpu's Christi's fest was celebrated. In the second half of the 14th century an other kind of Drama took place: Morality Plays. They told about an allegorical tales. At first the performances were done in a open space on a platform, in a second time they moved into banquet halls of noblemen.
