Scaffolding
After researching the meaning of title I thought it might talk about something that needs to be sustained or sustains something. For example a friends that sustains you in difficult situation. To tell the truth scaffolding is used to build a costruction. In that case the poetry might talk about a relation need to reconstruction. But a scaffolding might sometimes hide something. Like a mask that some people make to hide the truth.

The title seems a rhetorical question. The thing I thought is a man losted his dignity. A man opressed, in chains. He isn't free. Because a man without dignity might not be call man.
