The poem My Daughter by Antoinette McDonald deals with the difficult relationship between a mother or a father and her/his daughter.
She/he doesn't understand her/his daughter's behaviour and so she/he is wondering about her/his possible mistakes.
The writer thinks back over what she/he had done in the past for this daughter.
The daughter hates her mother or father, she doesn't trust her/his love and she has left her /him alone; so the writer is wondering whether her/his daughter will ever accept her/his apologies.
