In the first stanza the mother wonders what she exactly has done so wrong with her daughter to have provoked such reaction.

She describes her behaviour with her daughter as trying to understand her dreams, hopes and feelings. She also says that her daughter does not believe in their friendship and does not trust her love.

In the second stanza the reader understands what the problem discussed is. The daughter has gone away from home and her mother does not know why. The mother provides additional information about her behaviour towards her daughter when they used to live together.

In the third stanza the mother wonders where her daughter might have gone and how she can recover her trust. The mother believes she is the parent her daughter does not seem to like. In her mother's opinion she does not seem to be able to  have her daughter change her mind.

In the last stanza the mother asks herself if there is a chance for her to help the relationship survive and she says that she would like her daughter to forgive what has happened. She also hopes that one day her daughter will accept her apologies.
