Antony and Cleopatra is a tragedy by William Shakespeare. It deals with thelove story between Mark Antony and his mistress Cleopatra.
They are both powerful people: as a matter of fact, Antony is one of the Roman Triumviri. He rules the Western world along with Octavius Caesar and Lepidus.
On the other hand, Cleopatra is the Egypt's ruler.
Their unfaithful relationship disturbs Caesar so Antony, who used to live with his lover in Alexandria, is forced to go back home.
After his wife Fluvia's death he marries Caesar's sister Octavia, but he deserts her soon and goes back to Egypt causing a series of deaths, included his own and Cleopatra's.
