Antony and Cleopatra is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare. It tells the story of the love between Antony, one of the important people of the Roman Empire, who established with Lepidus and Cesar the first Roman Triumvirat; and Cleopatra, the queen of Egypt and lover of Antony, who was married with Fluvia. In that period, there were many conflicts between the Roman Empire and Egypt, that gave rise to some wars: the last one was the battle of Azio (31 b.C.), in which the Egyptian lost. Antony preferred to kill himself rather than be killed by the Romanian. Some days later, when Cleopatra had known about Antony's death, she killed herself with the bite of an asp, which is a poison snake.
