Antony and Cleopatra
The main characters of the tragedy are Antony, a roman triumvir, Cleopatra, queen of Egypt and Octavius Cesar, another triumvir, Julius Cesar's son. Antony is married to Fluvia, but lives in Egypt with his lover Cleopatra, behaving like an Egyptian sovereign. Octavius Cesar gets angry with Antony and calls him to Rome. Octavius makes Antony marry Octavia, but he returns to Egypt to Cleopatra. Octavius decides to attack and conquer Egypt and to defeat and kill Antony and Cleopatra. Antony's army is smaller and less skilled than Octavius' one, and it's going to loose. Antony's friend Enobarbus betrays him and, feeling guilt, kills himself. Antony, after not succeeding in convincing a friend to kill him, dies falling on his sword. When Cloepatra knows his lover is dead, she lets a snake bite her to kill herself.
