Textuality » 4A Interacting
I analyzed the figure of Cleopatra starting from Act I, Scene I.
Antony and Cleopatra enter a room in Cleopatra's palace in Egypt. So,the first connotation is that Cleopatra is a woman who rules. She also asks Antony how much he loves her. First we see that Cleopatra canlook unsure about Antony's love. Later we understand that she wants Antony to repeat her how much he loves her.
An attendant informs Antony that there are some news from Rome but Antony doesn't want to listen to him. We understand that he is more interested in Cleopatra than in all that happens in Rome.
Here the figure of the seducer comes to surface. Cleopatra tells Antony that he has to listen to the attendant and he does it.
Cleopatra could be a beautiful woman but she also knows how to seduce and subdue the man. (I have to finish...)
