Why is Thinks by David Lodge a postmodern novel?

Thinks is a postmodern novel because:

  • 1) Unlike postcolonialism it doesn't talk about power but about sciences.
  • 2) We have many point of views, many possibilities. Lodge wants to deconstruct the binary way to see knowledge: there are many ways you can solve a problem. (Relativism)
  • 3) It is metaliterature , as a matter of fact Helen Reed explains everything about novels.
  • 4) The distinction between fiction and reality is not much visible. Where does fantasy start and were does reality finish?
  • 5) We find many cultures (in chapter 23 Messenger talks about life in Prague).
  • 6) There is intertextuality
