TEENAGE ADOLESCENCE!
THE TITLE
The translation into Italian is "adolescenza (per ragazzi)".
I expect the text to be about adolescence.
In my opinion the speaking voice tells about a teenager.
There is an exclamation mark.
I think it is a reflexive poem but not too sad.
DENOTATIVE ANALYSIS
The speaking voice is probably a teenager.
He tells the reader a common adolescent situation.
The poem begins with 3 questions. The speaking voice turns to the reader.
These are common questions that a parent often makes to his son or daughter.
The parents generally asks if you have done your homework, if you have tidied your room and if you have washed the pots. They complain about the music, too.
After that the speaking voice starts to tell a common morning for a teenager.
In the morning the alarm clock goes and adolescent's mum shouts if he is up yet.
But the teenager thinks that it is only 8.15 and that there is no need to fret. He supposes to be in school in time.
But in reality he does have no sense of time.
Finally he gets up but there are some problems: his hair is not right, his face looks as though he has been in a fight and he has sprouted a big zit. The teenager thinks only about these things and he forgets the time.
The poet underlines how parents insist the adolescent gets up quickly because he or she might be late for school but they young chap believes there is so much time because he or she has to be at school for twenty to nine.
To tell the truth when you are an adolescent you don't really have a sense of time. You get up with terrible hair as if you had been in a fight. In addition you always have zits and when you look at your face in the mirror you hate it and, of course, you are terribly late. You have no PE kit ready and nothing seems to work.
But that's life, part of growing up, that's why you need a lot of luck.
STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS
The poem consists in one stanza. But in my opinion the poem is made up of three parts.
In the first one the speaking voice introduces the situation. He poses the reader some questions.
In the central part the speaking voice tells a possible common adolescent situation.
At the end of the poem (the last part) the speaking voice makes his considerations about this topic.
