In England the Renaissance is usually thought of as beginning with the accession of the House of Tudor to the throne in 1485.
The term Renaissance means "born again". But, what is born again during the Renaissance? During the Renaissance, people re-discovered Classic literature and the study of the Classics.
England, as an insular country followed a course of social and political history which was to a great extent independent from what was going on in Europe and this helped the country keep its cultural independence.
