My Heart Leaps Up    by William Wordsworth

My heart leaps up when I behold

A rainbow in the sky:

So was it when my life began;

So is it now I am a man;

So be it when I shall grow old,

Or let me die!

The Child is father of the Man;

And I could wish my days to be

Bound each to each by natural piety.

Denotative analisys:

The title might my to think of something mystic, because My Heart Leaps Up when something is not right.

I think the poem may tells about something that surprise me.

The poet informs the reader about all the feelings that a men has when he is a child, a mature men and an old men. The poet let us see which feelings the men is looking for. He looks for a strong spirit in front of a beautiful natural picture. He would like to feel the same in all his life. The poet tells also about our ability to react our emoctions.

Struktural analisys:

The poem might have three parts.

The function of the first two lines explain the reactions and what happened with the spirit in front of a beautiful natural event.

3-6 line: The poet wishes that he may feel the same in all the stages of his life, or he would prefear to die!

7-9 line: Provide the reader with an exclamation for what he has said in the privious line and underlines the ability to react emotionaly.
