THE DOVE

The translation into Italian is "colomba".

Taking the title into consideration I expect the poem to tell about this animal.

But the dove isn't only an animal. In our culture the image of the dove has become a symbol: it is an emblem of peace. So the poem may talk about a symbolic representation.

The poet refers to a Picasso's picture and he immediately thinks of dreams, of peace that they are fragile as pottery.

There is a contrast between a white dove with pottery and clay that is dark brown as earth.
