TWILIGHT

  • 1) summarize storyline

Twilight is an adventure story between a girl: Bella and a vampire: Edward. The film storyline is taken from a novel written by Stephanie Meyer. Edward and Bella are two teenagers who meet at school. Bella and Edward fall in love but Edward's lust for Bella is more a lust for her blood so he must try not to eat her. Edward learns that ha has a human in his midst, he isn't interested in eating Bella, also because he is a ‘vegetarian'. The ending of the film indicates a sequel.

  • 2) Explain the judgment on the film and how it has been organized into an argumentation.

The film judgment is positive: the director and the writer want to bring the people who haven't read the books and are by no means the target audience into this world. The people who haven't read the books could see a good adaptation from Meyers' novels. The only problem of the film was at the beginning with the two lead actors: Kristen Stewart (Bella) and Robert Pattinson (Edward): it took them a while to find their feet, but at the end they have worked over their long haul.

  • 3) Illustrate the different steps of the argumentation.

The review starts with a summery at the film storyline, after that Lawrence Toppman  illustrates the film authors' aim: they want to entertain the spectators who have never read the book with a story similar to Pattinson's novel. There is a criticism made by the fans of the novel: they say that the film doesn't provide a good adaptation of their beloved book. The positive aspect is that in spite of the lead actors' initial difficulties they worked out over the long haul.
