The English Renaissance dated from the early 16th century to the early 17th century.

The term Renaissance means “new birth”. It refers to the revival of classical art, architecture, literature and learning.

The English Renaissance developed later than the Italian one because England is an island far from the heart of Latin and Greek culture. That’s the reason why the United Kingdom had to wait for foreign artists to import Renaissance works; British artists developed it in a second time, according to the English previous tradition.
