Now I am going to carry out the structural analysis of  Obama's inauguration speech.

 

Obama's inauguration speech is arranged into 9 parts.

 

The first part is an introduction where Obama thanks Mr Bush and his fellow citizens.

 

The kayword are TASK - OATH - (verbs in association):  the trust you have bestowed, co-operation, America has carried on not simply, the people, have remained faithful to the ideals of our forbearers, has been, must be

The title of the second parts is ‘Serious challenges'. In this part  the function is to explain what he will do for the crisis.

 

Kaywords: HOPE - INDICATORS - : crisis is now well understood, violence and hatred, badly weakened, hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age, lost, too costly,  decline is inevitable, the challenges we face are real, they will be met, we come to proclaim an end

The title of the third part is   ‘Nation of 'risk-takers'. In this part the function is to reaffirm the american spirit.

Kaywords: REAFFIRM - SPIRIT - : remain a young nation, the time has come to set, choose our better, the God-given promise that all are equal, it has been the risk-takers

 

The title of the 4th  is 'Remaking America'. In this part the function is to express the progress of society.

 

Kaywords: ACTION - WORK - :  struggled and sacrificed and worked, remain the most prosperous, powerful nation,  Our capacity remains undiminished, to be done, we will transform

 

The title of the 5th  is "Restoring trust". In this part the function is to  urge the people to improve and restore the vital trust between a people and their government.

 

Kaywords: IMAGINATION - COURAGE - : suggest, memories are short, have consumed, it helps families, can afford, the answer is yes, to move forward

 

The title of the 6th  is 'Ready to lead'. In this part the function is to express the power of America.

 

Kayword: NATIONS - :  common defence, reject, we can scarcely imagine, ideals still light the world, we are ready to lead, understood that our power alone cannot protect us, We are the keepers of this legacy

 

The title of the 7th  is 'Era of peace'. In this part the function is to express the dream of Barack and of billion of people. All of us wish an era of peace.

 

Kaywords: AMERICA - WORLD - RESPECT - : are a nation, We are shaped by every language and culture, emerged from that dark chapter stronger and more united, we seek a new way forward, can build,  we say we can no longer afford indifference to suffering outside our borders, nor can we consume the world's resources without regard to effect

 

The title of the 8th  is 'Duties'. In this part the function is to express the importance of responsibility.

 

Kayword: RESPONSIBILITY - : we remember with humble gratitude those brave Americans, tell us, honour, a moment that will define a generation, can do and must do, the faith and determination, challenges may be new, instruments with which we meet them may be new, honesty and hard work, loyalty and patriotism, giving our all to a difficult task

 

The title of the 9th  is 'Gift of freedom'. This part is the last but not the least. He gives Americans a hope.

Kayword: PROSPERITY - : the promise of citizenship, God calls on us to shape an uncertain destiny, can join, let us mark this day, of who we are and how far we have travelled, Let it be told to the future world, let us remember these timeless words, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations,
