The speech is arranged into many different areas, everyone dealing with a different theme. Every area present the same organization: the first part, which is essentially exposing, where Obama deals with a theme or a problem, the second part, where a possible solution or an important reason is given and presented into many aspects, everyone introduced by a same connector. This repetition captures the audience's attention creating a climax. The climax is also underlined by the tone of the voice, which becomes louder and deeper.

 

INTRODUCTION

  • Confidential greeting ("my fellow citizens")
  • Introduction dealing with past and present of the USA (presidents, people's and founder's ideals)

 

SERIOUS CHALLENGES

  • Elements of the crisis (causes and effects)
  • Coming of the right moment to solve the problems of the USA (repetition: "on this day")

 

NATION OF "RISK TAKERS"

  • Need to reach the founders' goals with a unit, working society
  • Example of the ancestors (repetition: "for us")

 

REMAKING AMERICA

  • Need to work all together and make everyone's talent help America
  • Goals ("we will")

 

RESTORING TRUST

  • Real function and right goals of a government
  • Advantages and risks of the market

 

READY TO LEAD

  • Prudent use of power
  • Treating conflicts following some principles ("we will")

 

ERA OF PEACE

  • American's multiculturalism
  • Message of peace and dialogue ("for the.." , "for those who..")

 

DUTIES

  • Founders' and actual American people values
  • New challenges can't be face without respect of duties ("..may be new")

 

GIFT OF FREEDOM

  • America can overcome all difficulties and live through generations.
