Obama's Inauguration Speech

 

The speech is organized into nine sequences:

 

•1.    ‘INTRODUCTION'  (My fellow citizens... of Americans): Obama thanks everybody for the trust they have bestowed and President Bush for his service to the nation.

      KEY-WORDS: trust

 

•2.    ‘SERIOUS CHALLENGES' (That we are... our politics): Obama speaks of crisis of their nation, their economy, their health care and their school. He says the serious challenges will be met because they will fight fear, conflict and discord.

•3.    NATION OF ‘RISK-TAKERS' (We remain a young... Normandy and Khe Sahn): there is a noble idea, the promise that all are equal, all are free and all are deserve a change to be happy. Their journey has been the risk-takers that for them fought and died.

•4.    ‘REMAKING AMERICA' (Time and again... we will do): you must begin again the work of remaking America. You must redevelop economy, create new job, build roads and bridges, electric grids and digitals lines; you must use technology to fuel cars and run factories and you must transform schools, colleges and university.

•5.    ‘RESTORING TRUST' (Now, there are... our common good): ‘The question is whether our government works' says Obama. You must restore the vital trust between a people and their government.

•6.    ‘READY TO LEAD' (As for our common... we will defeat you): America is a friend of every man, woman and child who seeks a future of peace and dignity. It is ready to lead. Its power alone cannot protect it, but with the sturdy alliances and enduring conviction it can. The spirit of America is stronger.

•7.    ‘ERA OF PEACE' (For we know... change with it): America is a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus and non-believers. It must play the its role in ushering in a new era of peace. The world has change and the America must change with it.

•8.    ‘DUTIES' (As we consider... to a difficult task): This nation relies of faith and determination, of the kindness to take in a stranger, the selflessness of workers, the firefighter's courage to storm a stairway filled with smoke... You must accept duties to nation and the world.

•9.    ‘GIFT OF FREEDOM' (This is the price... the United States of America): Obama says: ‘God calls us to shape an uncertain destiny... So let us mark this day with remembrance, of who we are and how far we have travelled... and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God's grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations.'
