THE ANGLO-SAXONS:
- v They were Germanic tribes... They were divided into: Angles, Saxons and Jutes.
- v They had brought their military organisation and values based on honour and fidelity. They had a military culture based on the practice of war and dominated by the figure of the powerful noble- hearted warrior.
- v They also brought their farming and fishing methods and social structure.
- v They imposed their language (THE OLD ENGLISH)
- v RELIGION: Christianity began to spread at the end of 6th C, when Augustine and other monks were sent from Rome to convert the English. The church also introduced the writing of documents while pagan Anglo-Saxons culture was based on oral tradition.
