A WEBQUEST ABOUT SHAKESPEARE:
The English writer is still famous and his play "Romeo and Juliet" is still readen in schools and it's still considered one of the most interessant love story.
The opening scene of the play introduces the main characters: Romeo, the son of Lord Montague who is the head of Veronese family in opposition to Capulets and Juliet. Lord Capulet's daughter. The Balcony Scene is the most famous part of the play because the two lovers declare their love to each other. Romeo praises Juliet's beauty with neoplatonic images in the style of courtly tradition while Juliet appears like an unconventional character. When she asks why Romeo is a Montague, she reflects upon the relationship between a "name" and "what it stands for"; then she underlines that Romeo is her lover and yet an enemy by his name. The play consists in private emotional experience of the lovers which are explored in isolation and in relation both to their social context and ideas of love, destiny and death. This play speaks about courtly concept of love, melancholy, devotion and idealization of the object of desire. We have the secret wedding of the two lovers in the chapel; then we have the breaking of the unity of place, moving from Mantua, where Romeo has gone, after being banished from Verona for killing Tybalt, Juliet's cousin. In the last scene there is the explanation and Romeo and Juliet will never know the truth about their death. This is a short summary of the play which today is still considered the most important and most famous Shakespearen play. Shakespeare is very able to change the tone of the narration starting with comedy and he finish with the tragedy; he also uses different kinds of language in the play: in matter of fact at beginning Friar Laurence uses sermons and sententie forms and at the end Nurse uses negative verse characterized by a black language
