Barack Obama's speech deals with the President's idea of union. As a matter of fact the title is "A more perfect Union". On the 18th March 2008, in Philadelphia  Obama explained us his political, economic and social program in order to get to a more perfect Union in the USA; Indeed the statement "We the people, in order to form a more perfect union" is the subtitle supporting Obama's aim.

The speech begins with a return to ancient times "Two hundred and twenty years ago" ; and remains America's experiment: democracy. The President used this device underlining that the state is based on men's equality . Moreover Obama referred to farmers, scholars, statesmen, patriots  who made the declaration of independence at Philadelphia in 1787. In this way Obama praises America's founders and the solid bases dell' America. Obama remember the story: the declaration of independence . Thanks this declaration USA were born, so this is a fundamental piece of history.

Summarizing in this "incipit" Obama shows us America in a positively way emphasizing  the idea of equality based on democracy , the first key word, in contrast with tyranny. Successively he talk about the document, but he amazed the listener saying "It was stained", so Obama explained us indirectly  America's mistakes through document's error.  "Slavery" and "question" are two key words that expressed the top of the issue.  The parchment's faults are about founders' incapacity to stop slave trade and to leave any final resolution to future generations. After that Obama went deeply: he named the Constitution . This is one of the most important speech's point. Semantic field "equal citizenship, liberty, justice and union"  explain the ideals on which  is based a more perfect union. In spite of all that the parchment isn't enough to resolve question , but we must "to narrow gap " in order to reach union. On a second time Obama confirmed his final intent "to continue the long march of those who came before us, a march for a more just, more equal, more free, more caring and more prosperous America". On the consequence he explained us the reason why he chose to run for the presidency : he wants to solve challenges  with men's union appealed on common hopes  and moving in the same direction. So Obama's aim should be American's aim.

Successively the President introduces race's question talking about his personal story. Americans needed a message of unity, despite there was also the race's issue. "Race"is a key words as a matter of fact it is repeated a lot of times . Obama attract the listeners attention putting together opposite events : for example there is racism, but he won the campaign.

Consequently there is an anticipatory phrase " discussion of race has taken a particularly divisive turn:" On one side Obama's candidacy is an affirmative action that goes beyond racial problem, on the other side there is an impediment . Reverend Wright that fed racial division. Wright is connoted in a negative way "incendiary language, denigrate both the greatness and the goodness of our nation, offend with and black, caused controversy" This semantic field underlines  Wright' contraposition to unit. And so Obama took the distances from Wright's church  because "there is injustice, expressed a profoundly distorted view of this country, racism as endemic , caused conflicts through stalwart actions " The following part of speech is a summarize. Obama put together contrast words " divisive , racially" referring to the Reverend and "unity " referring to America's necessity to solve common problems like " wars, terrorist, falling economy, health care crisis". Obama put in evidence his aim and his values in order to take distance from Trinity United Church . Moreover he justify himself referring to Reverend's past and good  actions .: "helped, spoke about to love, to care for the sick and lift up the poor, served his country, studied and lectured, housing the homeless..." . In a second time Obama reported an extract from his first book , in order to justify him twice. He described his experience of his service at Trinity" . "hope, freedom, memories, rebuild" were Church key words.

The contrast between the old and actually church is underlined twice with two semantic fields "Kindness, intelligence, love " and " cruelty, fierce, ignorance, bitterness"  "And this explain my relationship with Reverend Wright " Is the conclusion of the concept he wants to gave us. He hasn't any relation with the priest  and the priest isn't the same person as a matter of fact he uses verbs tenses that expressed a concluded action " he has been like my family, strengthened my family, officiated my wedding and baptized my children, served, treat".

In spite of all that the President can't disown him because he represent a part of him. As a matter of fact  Obama associated Wright to his grandmother "helped sacrificed, loves" and positive verbs that creates a positive background connoting positively Wright.

"Some will see this as an attempt to justify or excuse comments that are simply inexcusable." Is a sentence that  reveals that Obama now isn't influenced by the priest and so he wouldn't excuse him, on the consequence he wants to dismiss him. The reason why he decides that is the race issue because "nation can't afford to ignore right now". Reverend  is a problem because he made mistakes "to simplify and stereotype and amplify the negative to the point that it distorts reality.

Moreover race  caused the division and so we must remind history of racial injustice in order to improve present. There were a lot of injustice : " segregated schools are inferior schools , inferior education, legalized discrimination , violence, excluded, could not amass any meaningful wealth , shame, frustration , erosion of black families". This semantic fields are connected to the phrase "This is the reality in which Reverend Wright and other African- Americans of his generation grow up."
