"Anna and the king" - youtube fan music video
- symbolic meaning of distance
The distance between the two protagonists is communicated by not providing a foreground in which they are filmed together and filming Rama mostly in a higher position than Anna; the distance means their strong differences in values and ways of thinking.
Moreover shots put into evidence differences between the two cultures, for example showing different ways of dressing and different ways of staying in the presence of the king.
- features of shots
Shots are mainly put on Anna's and Rama's faces, in order to convey their relationship; besides they show Rama's superior role, by filming him in solemn, austere posing.
- value of gap mass-individual
In the trailer Anna is also filmed among mass of Rama's subjects: she doesn't confound in it, but she sticks out because she never lays in the presence of the king. It means that she doesn't adapt to common way of life, that is to Siam tradition, but she wants to preserve her identity.
- reflection on eye contact
Shots frequently concerns eye contacts between Anna and Rama; at the beginning his stare conveys distrust and hers communicates defiance and disagreement with local culture.
Later both of them begin to demonstrate interest or satisfaction for some of his/her actions; in particular Rama's stare seems the first to convey his delight towards her.
After some experiences their looks reveal reciprocate estimate, regard and also love.
