I am going to carry out the connotation analysis of the first sixteen lines of Beowulf's epic poem. The speaking voice introduces the hero, Beowulf (Hygelac's nephew) explaining his features and his values. At the start we can understand that he was the best warrior on earth because the speaking voice said "there was no one else like him alive".
The use of the adjective "mighty" makes me understand that Beowulf was considered a man having god-like nature. The phrase "high-born" hints at a society divided into social classes in which Beowulf was the highest step.
