The House of Stuart, also known as the House of Stewart is an important European royal house. Founded by Robert II of Scotland, the Stewarts first became monarchs of the Kingdom of Scotland during the late 14th century. Their direct ancestors had held the title High Steward of Scotland since the 12th century, after arriving by route of Norman England. The dynasty inherited further territory by the 17th century which covered the entire British Isles, including the Kingdom of England and Kingdom of Ireland.
1. James VI and I (19 June 1566 - 27 March 1625) was King of Scots as James VI, and King of England and King of Ireland as James I:
• He reinforced Puritans
• Catholic gentleman planned to blow up the House of Parliament in 1603
• Peace with Spain in 1604
• Completed the "King James Bible" in 1611
• Pilgrim fathers left England for America in 1620

2. Charles I (19 November 1600 - 30 January 1649) was King of England, Scotland and Ireland from 27 March 1625 until his execution on 30 January 1649:
• He imposed taxation without Parliament consent
• Civil war in 1642
• Introduced of the Book of Common Prayer in 1634
• Aristocracy became Royalists. Professional and mercantile classes sided the parliament
• Cromwell defeated the Royalists in 1642

3. Charles II (29 May 1630 OS - 6 February 1685) was the King of England, Scotland, and Ireland:
• Restoration in 1660
• Organization of Parliament into 2 groups: the Tories and the Whigs
• 1665: The Great Plague Of London
• Expansion of the English colonialism and commerce all over the world

4. James II and VII (14 October 1633 - 16 September 1701)[2] was King of England, Scotland,[1] and Ireland from 6 February 1685:
• Imposition of catholic religion
• 1688: Bloodless revolution
• 1690: war in Ireland
• Trade and emigration
