JAMES I
- On Elizabeth's death, James I was crowned.

- New restrictions were passed against Catholics.
CHARLES I
- On James I's death, the throne passed to his son Charles I.
- Shared his father's conviction (the divine right).
- Ruled the country as an absolute monarch.
- Hostility in Parliament.
CHARLES II

JAMES II
