Post-modernism is a cultural moviment born around 60s and still present in our contemporary period.

The element at the base of whole Post-modernist thought is a new concept of authority, in oppisition to Modernism.

What makes somebody authoritative is the recognition of a social group who considers this person significant.

Not only the old concept of authority was put into doubt but also the concept of truth: there is not a stable and definite one bacause the world and human esperiences change constantly.

In consequence whole western culture is put into doubt and deprived of its certainties.

In these terms, in art, literature and music the signified is not stable and defined and the sense is made by who sees, reads or listens.
In Post-modernist art there is not distinction beteween low art and high art; indeed they both come together in what Post-modernist thought calls artistic production.
