In the Post-Modernist view of the world no absolute truth or any kind of knowledge exist or can be find by men. This is particularly right for the concept of God, which was already put into question by Modernism with intellectuals like Nietzsche. Yet, Post-Modernism rejects the Modernist idea that reason can make man understand the universe, as mankind is a limited and defined element.
The Post-Modernism interpretation of reality brings to a sceptic and relativistic culture, where the language is the only tool left to man for understand what he faces.
Also, the individual is deeply influenced by his background, which makes him always full of prejudices and isolated from the others, without the possibility of changing the situation.
Reason and the claim of having the knowledge of all are concepts not accepted by Post-Modernism, which sees them as weapons used to control people. Furthermore, optimism is no more possible or sensed, as technologies like the nuclear weapons have dehumanized man.
On the contrary there's pluralism, linked to the variety of the society. Therefore, the concept of pluralism can also be seen as a symbol of relativism, as there's not a single view of the world , but many.
