MODERNISM

- it believes in the existence of an absolute meaning;
- Modernists think they could find a possibility of truth;
- everything has got a centre;
- reality is one-->only a point of view;
- only higher art is considered respectable.
POSTMODERNISM
- it develops after the first three decades of XX Century, as a consequence of Modernism;
- traditional ideas are posed into doubt;
- it believes that meaning is never stable, always slippery, still to come --> MEANING IS DIFFERED;
-no truth exists;
-there is no more a centre, everything is subjective;
-there are many point of view, there is not only a reality;
- it abolishes the differences between low and higher art.
