THE CELTS
The Celts were established in Ireland a century before Christ and then they dominated the island and resisting challenges. This group of people came from Bavaria, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and Bohemia and included a group of Indo-European languages. Before Celts, in Ireland, hunters and farmers lived there about 6000 B.C. perhaps by 2000 B.C. had arrived a group of metalworkers in search of gold and copper. These people lived in Ireland during the Bronze Age when the Celts arrived. They may begun to arrive as early 500 B.C. and they had the advantage of having weapons made of iron, so they could gain the Picts and other pre-Celtic populations.
Writing arrived in Ireland only with Roman alphabet and we know little about this island before the coming of Christianity. Stories divided Ireland into five major kingdoms, this cause local wars which were frequent but bot prolonged. The unity of the island was cultural, social and legal rather than political.
