MRS DALLOWAY.
WHAT A MORNING!
COMPREHENSION.
• Where is Mrs Dalloway going?
She is going to buy flowers herself for her party in the evening.
• What is her mood?
She is serious ,calm for the period spent in Bourton, but very happy in London.
• The passage mixes two different time dimension. Which are they? What sound evokes the past in Clarissa's mind?
The two different time dimensions are: the present and the past. Clarissa with eighteen and Clarissa with over fifty years old. The memories evoke nostalgia, they conveys that she misses the past times.
• Who do you think is Peter Walsh?
Peter Walsh may be a man who loved her or may be clarissa's friend. He lived in Bourton when she was young
• What does clarissa say of him?
Clarissa says about him that he wrote her very boring letters but some of his sayings were remembered.
• What does Scrope Purvis think of Clarissa?
Scrope Purvis thinks she is a charming woman, like a bird. He may compared her to a blue-green vivacious light. She is delicate, dynamic, even if she was about fifty and a lot of white hairs.
• What are Clarissa's thoughts while walking through the streets in Westminster?
While she is walking through Westminster's streets, Clarissa is thinking about human life. Clarissa thinks about the city day life within his multitude aspects. In conclusion she thoughts about what she loves, about life. Then Mrs Dalloway thinks about the silence and the quiet she feels while walking through the streets; suddenly she thinks about the strikes of the Big Ben.
